General Electric (GE) has announced a series of deals and investments in the Chinese commercial aviation sector at the aviation exhibition held in Zhuhai, China.
CFM International, a joint venture between GE and France-based Snecma, has secured four deals worth $2.1bn with Air China, China Eastern Airlines and the HNA Group.
Under the terms of the deal, 20 CFM56-5B engines will be delivered to Air China and 30 CFM56-5B engines will be delivered to China Eastern Airlines.
About 42 CFM56-5B engines will be delivered to HNA Group to power its new Airbus A320s, which are scheduled to be delivered in 2012.
It also signed a long-term service agreement on maintenance of the CFM56-5B-powered HNA Group A320 fleet.
GE Capital Aviation Services signed a letter of intent to purchase up to ten of the C919 aircraft from Shanghai-based Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC).
CFM has been signed as the sole foreign propulsion system supplier to C919 aircraft to be built by Shanghai-based COMAC.
COMAC has also signed an agreement with AVIC International for 100 ARJ21-700 regional aircraft to be powered by GE’s CF34-10A engine.
